A cozy scene with a rustic ceramic mug of chai tea, complete with a cinnamon stick protruding from the milky tea. Steam gently rises from the mug, enhancing the inviting warmth. The background suggests a snug home setting with warm lighting, a wooden table, and hints of a cozy blanket.

This is a favourite of mine and my daughter in the evenings all year round and anytime in the fall or winter.

Yields: 4 cups

Servings: 4

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cooking Time: 15 minutes

Total Time: 25 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Cloves: 4-5 whole

  • Peppercorns: 4-5 whole

  • Tea bags: 2 bags of your favourite black tea

  • Sugar: 2 tablespoons (or honey, maple syrup, or coconut sugar to taste)

  • Ground ginger: 1/2 teaspoon (or freshly ground if available)

  • Cinnamon stick: 1 stick

  • Water: 2 cups

  • Milk: 2 cups (2% or whole milk for a creamier chai)

Instructions:

  1. Boil Water: Bring 2 cups of water to a rolling boil in a medium saucepan.

  2. Add Spices: Add whole cloves, peppercorns, ground ginger, and cinnamon sticks to the boiling water. Let them steep for about 5 minutes.

  3. Steep Tea: Add the tea bags to the spiced water and steep for another 3-5 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea.

  4. Sweeten: Remove the tea bags and add sugar (or your preferred sweetener) to the tea. Stir until dissolved.

  5. Add Milk: Pour in the milk and heat it until it's warm but not boiling.

  6. Serve: Strain the chai into cups, remove the spices, and enjoy warm and cozy chai tea with a loved one.

Servings: This recipe makes approximately 4 cups of chai tea, which serves 2-4 people, depending on the cup size.

Enjoy this delightful chai tea during cozy evenings or chilly days for a comforting and aromatic experience!
