Yields: 1 quiche
Servings: 6
Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 35-40 minutes
Total Time: 50-55 minutes
Ingredients:
Six large eggs
1 cup milk (whole or 2% for a more decadent quiche, but any milk will do)
1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or your favourite)
One pre-made pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon, sausage, or diced ham (optional)
1/2 cup chopped vegetables (such as spinach, bell peppers, mushrooms, or onions)
Salt and pepper to taste
1/2 tsp dried herbs (like thyme, oregano, or parsley, optional)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Prepare the pie crust: Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish. If using a store-bought crust, follow the package instructions for pre-baking if needed.
Cook the filling: If you use any meats or vegetables, cook them first. For example, sauté the vegetables until tender and cook any meat until thoroughly done.
Whisk the eggs and milk: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, and dried herbs until well combined.
Assemble the quiche: Evenly spread the cooked meat and vegetables over the pie crust. Sprinkle the shredded cheese on top. Then, pour the egg mixture over the filling.
Bake: Place the quiche in the oven for 35-40 minutes or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
Cool and serve: Allow the quiche to cool slightly before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Tips:
Make it your own: Quiche is very versatile. You can mix and match your favourite meats, cheeses, and vegetables.
Storage: Leftover quiche can be refrigerated for up to 3 days—Reheat in the oven or microwave as needed.
Enjoy your Simple Rustic Quiche! It's a fantastic way to use those eggs, perfect for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.
